Cookie Policy
Last updated 13 October 2026
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Let's Talk EV uses as few as possible: one cookie, and only after you log in or register. We use no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, so nothing here needs an opt-in. On your first visit we still show a short notice so you can confirm you accept our Terms, Privacy Policy and this Cookie Policy.
Cookies we set
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
forum_session | Strictly necessary. Keeps you logged in. It contains a signed token (your account id and an expiry), never your password. | 30 days |
It is sent only to this site (letstalkev.gustavjoubert.co.za), is marked HttpOnly (page scripts cannot read it), Secure (HTTPS only) and SameSite=Lax (not sent on most cross-site requests). Logging out clears it. We do not share it with any other site.
Other things stored on your device
- Your agreement. When you click "I agree" on the notice, your browser remembers it in local storage (an entry named
talkev_consent_2026-10-13with the value 1) so we do not ask again. It stays on your device, is not sent to us, and you will be asked again if these policies change materially. - App cache. To work as an installable app and show an offline page, the Forum stores its stylesheet, logo, icons and an offline page in your browser's cache through a service worker. It does not store threads, posts or anything about you.
- Google Fonts. Our typeface is loaded from Google's servers. This is a normal request, not a cookie, but it does tell Google your IP address (see the Privacy Policy).
Controlling cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the session cookie you can still read the Forum but you will not be able to log in or post. Clearing site data removes the app cache too.
